ML.ai

Keep Cursor as your editorML.ai runs inside it

Install ML.ai into Cursor and keep the editor. ML.ai picks the model for each step on every plan, while Cursor’s own router is a Teams and Enterprise feature that starts switched off.

One failing test, inside the same editor

Cursor’s agent runs on the model you picked for the task. ML.ai picks the model per step and waits for your approval before it edits.

What Cursor and ML.ai each do

Cursor

An AI code editor with an agent in the sidepane, a CLI, cloud agents and Bugbot for pull request review. On individual plans you pick the agent’s model. On Teams and Enterprise, Cursor Router can pick it once an admin turns it on.

ML.ai

An extension that runs inside Cursor or VS Code, plus a desktop app. Every action waits for your approval by default, and every plan includes auto model routing across ML.ai’s tiers.

Pick the model yourself, or let the agent route it

Pick the model per task

Cursor

Use this if

You want Cursor’s own agent features: cloud agents, Bugbot on pull requests, Projects with a coordinator agent, and the choice of model for each task.

Routing on every plan

ML.ai

Use this if

You want to stay in Cursor but have the model picked per step on any plan, with each action waiting for your approval by default.

What it is

Cursor

An AI code editor with a built-in agent, a CLI, cloud agents and Bugbot for pull request review.

ML.aiML.ai

A coding agent that runs as an extension inside Cursor or VS Code, or in its own desktop app.

Cursor

Cursor stays your editor, with its own agent and Bugbot alongside the ML.ai panel.

ML.aiML.ai

Install the ML.ai extension with cursor --install-extension, sign in once, and it runs in a side panel.

How it works

Cursor

You pick the agent model per task.

Cursor Router (Auto) picks per request on Teams and Enterprise only, and an admin has to turn it on.

ML.aiML.ai

You pick a tier, from ML.ai Flash to ML.ai High, and ML.ai manages the model behind it.

Every plan includes auto model routing.

Cursor

Auto-review is the recommended default.

Allowlisted calls run, other shell commands run in a sandbox when possible, and the rest go to a classifier. Run Everything runs every tool call.

ML.aiML.ai

Ask is the default: each action waits for Allow, Always or Deny, with a diff before supported edits.

Auto answers for you, and sudo or deletes that can’t be proven safe are refused in every mode.

Cursor

Bugbot reviews pull requests.

ML.aiML.ai

/review reviews uncommitted changes, a commit, a branch or a PR, and runs when you call it.

Cursor

Checkpoints roll back the agent’s file changes.

ML.aiML.ai

/undo and /redo work on the last turn, using Git snapshots.

The extension can also rewind to an earlier message.

Where each one falls short

ML.ai’s own limits sit beside theirs, with the same weight.

Where Cursor is limited

Individual plans have no automatic routing.

Cursor Router is for Teams and Enterprise, and stays off until an admin turns it on.

Plus includes Grok models only.

Other providers’ models need Premium or above, billed at API list price on top.

Router modes other than Cost bill at the routed model’s list price, plus the Cursor Token Rate on third-party routes.

FAQs

Do I have to leave Cursor to use ML.ai?

No. ML.ai installs into Cursor as an extension, the same package as for VS Code with cursor in place of code, and runs in a side panel.

Does Cursor pick the model automatically, like ML.ai?

Only on Teams and Enterprise, through Cursor Router, which is off by default. On individual plans you pick the agent’s model for each task.

How do the prices compare?

ML.ai’s individual plans are $10, $20 and $40 a month. Cursor’s run from $8 (Grok models only) to $200, and third-party models on Premium and up bill at API list price.

Has ML.ai been benchmarked against Cursor?

Not directly. ML.ai’s published runs compare it with Claude Code on 1,344 tasks, and the Benchmarks page has the method.
